Keep reading to find out which beaches you need to add to your Bali itinerary for the perfect Instagram shot.

Hang on......How did we come up with this list?

We were curious, so we gathered and combined statistics from a number of popular social media and image sharing platforms to see which beaches were photographed the most. It's no surprise of course that the busiest beaches are heavily photographed. What is interesting is that some of the beaches on the list are not tourist beaches. They made the list because they are important ceremonial beaches for the Balinese, and that makes them culturally important beaches.

This private beach club is part of the Ungasan Clifftop Resort and you access the club via a funicular. It costs to use the club and that includes a voucher toward food. This is a popular spot on Bali's Bukit peninsula offering a tranquil beach escape with a pristine stretch of sand and Mediterranean cuisine. Kedonganan Beach is the continuation of Jimbaran Beach and shares the same qualities - white sand, sensational sunsets and seafood cafes on the beach. It's a little quieter than Jimbaran Beach and that is one of its attractions - it's just a little away from the hustle and bustle of Jimbaran Beach but it shares the sensational sunset vistas. The Kedonganan Fish Market is located here, so this is the source of all the fish sold in the cafes - you can't get fresher than that! Statistically Kedonganan Beach gets more photos taken than Jimbaran but that might be because many people start here, take photos and then walk down the beach toward Jimbaran's cafes.

Pantai Uluwatu Blue Point Beach in Bali is another big favourite for Bali beach photography

Pantai Batu Belig Beach provides an excellent location to sink your feet into the sand and take a leisurely walk to clear your mind after a night of excitement.

This beach is free from the tourist crowds you will find at most other beaches on this list, which is why it made it into our feature article 30+ Hidden, Secret Bali Beaches: The Hot List only the locals know! Yet it is still one of the most photographed. Why? It is a popular beach for Balinese ceremonies, and that results in lots of photographs!

    17. Pantai Jimbaran Beach, South Bali

Pantai balangan Beach is one of the famous names on this list of the most photographed Bali beaches

Pantai Balangan Beach. Image: Maksim Golitsyn | Click to watch their video

Address: South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia

Balangan Beach in Bali is a stunning location with 500m of golden sand and limestone cliffs. And yes, we were a bit surprised to see Balangan Beach lower down on this list, because it is so popular. But hey, there are hundreds of beaches in Bali. This surfers' paradise features one of the island's most desirable left-handed surf breaks. While swimming is possible, it's more of a surfer's beach (so maybe that is why it is less photographed than others on the list…the surfers are flat chat surfing, right?). It's part of the Bukit coastline that has other surfing spots like Dreamland, Impossibles, Padang Padang, Suluban, and Uluwatu.

    20. Pantai Labuan Sait Beach, South Bali

Pantai Labuan Sait Beach is the 20th most photographed Bali beach...or is it?

Pantai Labuan Sait Beach. Image: Bali Beaches | Click to watch their video

Address: Pecatu, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali 80361, Indonesia

Confusion runs rife with some Bali Beaches, and Pantai Labuan Sait Beach is one of the big misnomers. You see, this beach is also known as Padang Padang Beach and with that name, it is number five on this list. The Balinese use the name Labuan Sait and the tourist blogs call it Padang Padang Beach. You can take from this that no matter what you call this beach, it's on the top 20 most photographed Bali Beaches List. So now you have two reasons to go check it out!

    Frequently Asked Questions

Most popular Bali beach for photography?

As you can see from our list, Kuta Beach is the most photographed beach in Bali. But it is important to note that this does not necessarily mean it is the best or most beautiful. What is the best time to go to a Bali beach and photograph it?

The best time to photograph Bali's beautiful beaches is at sunrise or sunset. Look for a beach that is both easily accessible and photogenic. Bali's volcanic mountains and lush greenery also make for a striking backdrop for your photos.

Is there a specific season for photographing Bali beaches?

For photography, the best time to visit Bali's beaches is during the dry season from April to October. During this period, the weather is more predictable, and the beaches are generally cleaner and more picturesque.

Is the wet season okay for Bali beach photography?

The rainy season from November to March can bring more rubbish to the beaches because it washes down irrigation channels in the wet. It's still possible to capture beautiful shots during this time, but it can be more challenging due to the weather conditions and potential debris.

Is it realistic to do a sunrise or sunset photoshoot travelling from Ubud to Seminyak, Canggu or a Bukit beach, have lunch in one of the cafes and also get a waterfall shoot in on the same day?

Well, it would be a big day, but yes, it can be done. You could start early at a waterfall near Ubud (check our article 'The Ultimate Mega Guide to the Best Waterfalls & Hot Springs on Bali & Lombok' to pick one) and then head down to the beach for a sunset shoot. You'd even have time to have a late lunch and do some shopping in Seminyak, for example. Of course, you'd arrive back in Ubud at night - but probably in time for a late dinner!

If I want a luxury villas or hotel sanctuary and be on one of these most photographed Bali beaches, which beach should I choose for honeymoon?

If you want to pick from this list, here are our suggestions. If you like the idea of a villa, what about checking out Pantai Blue Lagoon Beach. There are swanky small villas above the beach and a number of larger luxury villas in and around Padangbai. For a luxury hotel, we'd suggest Nusa Dua, where there are plenty of resorts to choose from. But you'll find all the beaches on our list have both hotels and villas nearby, so you'll be spoilt for choice!
